Birds of our Land in Alentejo, Portugal

Cetti’s Warbler

The Cetti's Warbler is a resident species in Portugal which breeds preferably near water. This is why we mostly get to see, or at least hear this bird by rivers, lakes, ponds or lagoons. The Cetti's Warbler builds its nest in dense vegetation. It is an elusive bird that is hard to see but very easy to hear. Its call is very unique and very loud.

2022 : on our land we have heard several times the Cetti's Warbler so far, and its call comes from the reeds of our neighbour’s pond. Now that we have extended our small pond, we really hope this species will come breed on our land once vegetation grows around it.
