Common Kingfisher

We see and hear the Common Kingfisher occasionally on our land so far, sometimes crossing the land in front of the house at full speed, sometimes fishing on our pond. As there are many ponds and dam lakes in our area, we believe there are probably some resident Common Kingfishers around. Let’s hope we can learn more about them soon!

Now that we have made our bigger pond in autumn of 2022, we hope the Common Kingfisher will be a common species on our land. By making the pond as full of life as possible, and maybe adding a couple of perches for it, we hope it will become a great place for this stunning bird.
