Our Tree Planting Journal

Fruit Trees Alentejo Portugal

Planting trees on our land is an important mission for us. First, fruit trees will allow us to be more self sufficient in food. Second, planting trees tremendously help wildlife. Finally, it is a great solution against soil erosion and desertification. And on top of that it looks amazing!

Of course, here in Portugal, it is crucial not to neglect the risk of wildfires. This is why planting trees have to be matched with other actions to balance that important risk. By creating a big pond, and more ponds in the future, by keeping some areas clear, by choosing carefully where we plant and what we plant, taking in account the wind directions for example, we try to create a place where both animals and humans can thrive, a place that is beautiful and safe.
