Albufeira de Odivelas
The Albufeira de Odivelas is a very nice lake located north of Ferreira do Alentejo. The Odivelas dam and reservoir owes its name to the village that lies on its land. The Odivelas dam is located within the National Ecological Reserve of the municipalities of Alvito and Ferreira do Alentejo, in the river basin of the Sado river, on the Odivelas river. It was built in 1972, with the primary purpose of irrigation, and occupies today an area of around 973 hectares. It is one of the six largest dams in Baixo Alentejo.
There is a lake beach, the Praia Fluvial de Odivelas, with a café restaurant. And when it comes to birds, the Albufeira de Odivelas can be worth the visit.
